Xbox One Launch Day

So what is it like to launch Xbox One? Given that it started 3am local time when New Zeeland first launched it has been an interesting and long day.

When I'm writing this Xbox One has launched on the east coast of the US and we are still waiting for the rest of the US to get access to Xbox One. And it has been a long day of celebrating, and analyzing data from our services. And it is not over yet. One second you are celebrating, the next you are looking at a bump in a graph trying to understand why there is an unexpected bump.

The interesting thing about working on services is that launch day is not really any different than any other day. It just means you get more requests concurrently. But I never thought watching graphs could be so exciting before today...
